Visitors to the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve

—Iris McPherson

The total number of visitors signing in during October was 724, which was high for October. There were several large groups during the month, which boosted the numbers. There were 36 states (684) represented with the highest counts after Oklahoma (446) being Texas (37), California (34) and Arkansas (23). There were 11 foreign countries (40) represented with the highest being Germany (11) and Switzerland (8).

So far this year there have been a total of 4,788 visitors with 4,484 from the U.S. and 304 from other countries. There have been 50 states and 43 countries represented. We had visitors from Delaware and Hawaii, the last two states without representatives this year, so all 50 states have now been represented.

We did have a special visitor to the preserve in October. Dave Dolcater was working on the day when Batman aka Christian Bale, the actor, came to visit with Bob about some research he was doing for a future film. The Oklahoma Film Commission wanted his visit to be kept very low key, so that request was respected.
